INTELLIO 4K delivers sharp, detailed 4K image quality with over 1 billion colors (10 bit), creating impressive color reproduction, image clarity and enhanced depth of field. This new console combines the excellent image quality from LENS 4K with a host of quality of life and usability improvements. INTELLIO 4K also shows the new Smtih & Nephew Design Language.
INTELLIO 4K is one of the flagship consoles for the new Smith & Nephew Design Language that I helped develop. I was the design lead on this program concurrently with the INTELLIO SHIFT program, so these consoles were designed as a set. The brief for this system from a design standpoint was to bring the power and quality of LENS 4K into our new design language, made to represent the new and improved Smith & Nephew. I was able to work on these systems from idea to release and work with both teams all the way through to ensure we kept our consistent design language across both new INTELLIO systems.
The Industrial Design for INTELLIO 4K has been very well received and even specifically praised across the board from internal teams, reps, capital specialists, and users.
INTELLIO 4K is currently our flagship visualization console, paired with the new INTELLIO Tower that we designed, the INTELLIO TABLET and EVO 4K Image Management.
From idea to early 'concept car' models to production, I was able to work closely with the team and adjust the design as necessary along the way while maintaining design intent. This allowed us to make sure that any issues that came up along the way, whether they be manufacturing issues or architecture issues, we could tweak the design accordingly.
We used 'concept car' models like those seen above as a way to pitch the console designs to various internal stakeholders including leadership teams. These were especially helpful to pitch the new design language in a tangible way.
INTELLIO Cart
As part of the new design language effort, we also partnered with an external Cart manufacturer and designed a new INTELLIO cart to accompany the new consoles. This falls into our design language along with the consoles and allows us to roll in a completely new looking tower to represent Smith & Nephew's new look.
For both INTELLIO 4K and INTELLIO Cart, I provided renderings to supplement/replace product photography. These renderings have been used in brochures and on banners at trade shows.
